Malmö, Sweden – nok9 participated at the Wireless Power Consortium meeting held 9 -11 June, 2015, in Stresa. The meeting was hosted by ST Micro. Although there weren’t as many nok9 people on hand as at the Taipei meeting, all of nok9’s core developers were present, with the exception of CTO Magnus Wikstrand. WPC released its Medium Power standard, and the nok9 Medium Power Tester was validated and certified by a large group of WPC officials.
The wireless power industry is enjoying progress, as semiconductors seem up to speed with chip development for medium power, and mobile device makers seem to want to integrate medium-power capability in their products. The automotive industry is also very interested in the standard – carmakers want to develop faster in-car wireless charging that will appeal to drivers and passengers wanting to charge smartphones on the go.
