AN EVALUATION PLATFORM FOR DESIGNERS OF WPT SYSTEMS
IN THE LAPTOP APPLICATION AREA

The EVA II is an evaluation platform for WPT systems up to 240 W, developed to support the WPC Medium Power specification and Mobile Laptop Task Force specification.

The EVA II system consist of a high-power rectifier, a high-power inverter and a variety of resonant tanks. Together with additional external equipment they create an evaluation platform for designers of WPT systems in the laptop application area. It is an ideal tool kit for rapid prototyping and comparison of different WPT designs during the development of the final specification and compliance program. As a reference, EVA II allows for reliable comparison of different designs or prototypes.

Developers of either transmitter or receiver designs can utilize EVA II for evaluation of their design, without the need to develop counterpart products themselves. A company developing transmitters for Medium Power (or MLTF) applications can use the EVA II Rectifier and EVA II resonant tanks to evaluate the coupling, losses and operating points of their transmitter design. Equally for developments of Laptops or other medium power receivers, EVA II Inverter in combination with EVA II resonant tanks allow for evaluation and benchmark of the receiver module and coupling with different transmitter designs. Similarly a coil designer can utilize either the EVA II Rectifier or EVA II Inverter by connecting their own coils to the system, enabling full first hand evaluation of different designs in a realistic use case scenario.

EVA II used with external equipment

EVA II units can be used either with external equipment such as oscilloscope, wave-form generator and electronic load (as in picture above), or with EVA I control units (as in pictures below), customized to the use case of early stage prototype developement.

EVA II Rectifier
